LOCAL ATTRACTIONS
Founded in the 13th century by order of Emperor Frederick II of Swabia, the port town of Augusta is located along the eastern coast of Sicily, between Syracuse and Catania.
Nearby, at Brucoli, there are both long, sandy clean beaches for sea lovers, and beautiful inland Baroque towns to visit, like Noto, Ragusa and Modica.
Its position is an ideal starting point for exploring the beauties of Sicily.
Places to visit at Augusta include the Garsia and Vittoria forts, the Spanish Gate, the Swabian Castle and the Brucoli Castle, the Santa Croce lighthouse, and the salt flats.
